Talk & Tech – Energy on Set

At Talk & Tech – Energy on Set, hosted by Cologne-based company Cinevision-Solutions in mid-December 2025, industry representatives and technical managers from the film and television production sector got an insight into new energy supply solutions on set. Innovative technologies, practical solutions, and sustainable approaches were presented, including the latest developments from NestorKemamaMaier Bros.cmotion, and Nanlux. Participants had the opportunity to mingle and meet with developers, manufacturers, and film equipment rental companies.

Cinevision Solutions presented an innovative solution for DC power supply for film and video productions with the Mainstation MST1, which combines a power source manager, multi-rail power converter, and universal smart charger in one device. The compact high-load power station has six regulated outputs and can simultaneously supply cameras, remote heads, monitors, video transmitters, or VFX rigs with up to 1,000 W of power in a stable manner and without voltage drops.

The French company Nestor developed the Nomad 110.30, a mobile power supply that is already being used in numerous film productions in France. This powerful battery has a storage capacity of 109 kWh and a continuous output of 30 kVA. It can be charged from a household socket or a charging point. Weighing just under a ton, the power supply fits into a small van and can be driven to the desired location on set using a control system.

Kemama provided an insight into the Filmhybrid 30/60, which is installed in an electric utility vehicle, was explained on site. The 110 kWh lithium iron phosphate battery of this power supply system is used both to drive the vehicle and to operate the inverters, whose output of 60 kW is distributed over three phases of 20 kW each. The FH30/60 has enough energy on board to continuously supply 30 kW for a ten-hour shooting day and has a peak output of 60 kW. If the battery charge level is insufficient, it can be recharged at a Type 2 charging station. As a further option, a 20 kVA range extender can be connected.

Kemama CEO Judith Mann and developer Conrad Keuck gave a first glimpse of the new Filmhybrid 30/60, which is installed in a VW e-Crafter. Thanks to its CCS charging capability, the battery can be recharged during the lunch break. A new on-set solution developed by Kemama and available for rent from film equipment rental company Maier Bros. is the PowerPekki 30/10. This mobile power storage unit has a capacity of 30 kWh and a maximum continuous output of 10 kW. The battery level can be extended by recharging it simultaneously during operation.

The Talk & Tech – Energy on Set event is set to continue next year and will be offered at additional locations.
